Building on DogeOS

Welcome to the DogeOS developer documentation!

DogeOS is its own EVM compatible Application Layer network built on Dogecoin.

If you’re experienced in building on Ethereum, your code, dependencies, and tooling work with DogeOS out of the box. This is possible because our network is compatible with EVM bytecode and designed to feel just like developing on Ethereum.

Why Build on DogeOS?

Smart Contracts — DogeOS brings web3 to Dogecoin.

The Dogecoin blockchain has proven itself as a secure and reliable base layer for payments. DogeOS extends this functionality by adding smart contract capabilities to Dogecoin. This means that developers can build decentralized applications on DogeOS that are secure, scalable, and cost-effective.

Throughput — DogeOS creates more secure blockspace for Dogecoin.

DogeOS can process ~300 transactions per second compared to ~30 transactions per second on Dogecoin Layer 1. This means that DogeOS can provide more secure blockspace for Dogecoin, allowing a much greater amount of value to be transacted on the network.

Speed — DogeOS delivers feedback to users, faster.

While Dogecoin’s Layer 1 produces blocks every ~1 minute, DogeOS can produce blocks every ~3 seconds. This means that users can see their transactions confirmed faster, and developers can build applications that are more responsive to user interactions.

Community — DogeOS makes crypto FUN.

We know that the Dogecoin community is the greatest community in crypto! We’re building DogeOS to be a place where Dogecoin users can come together to build, fun, cutting-edge applications that push the boundaries of what’s possible with Dogecoin.

Thank you for building with us.

Our testnet is now live, and we’re diligently working towards a mainnet launch!
